Nebraska reports 22 cases of CWD in deer
Posted: Tuesday, February 03, 2009 NORFOLK, Neb. (AP) - The Nebraska Game and Parks Commission says there has been no expansion of chronic wasting disease in the state even though 22 deer tested positive in the November firearm season.
The commission says more than 4,900 deer were tested.
CWD is a disease that can affect deer and elk and is always fatal to the affected animal. Humans have never been known to contract CWD.
The 22 positive tests came in the western half of the state, where the disease had been previously found.
Wildlife disease specialist Bruce Trindle said the prevalence of CWD in deer tested over the past three years has been less than 1%.
CWD has never been detected in the Nebraska wild elk population.

The Official Nebraska Government website banned speaking about CWD a long time ago, after first detecting CWD, and as you can see by there updates, they still do not speak about it freely. ...
